CV

Professional

I am a Professor of Psychology at Olin College of Engineering. Olin is a small school with an enormous impact. It was founded in 1997 with a mission to revolutionize undergraduate STEM education and in our short history we have already topped nearly every metric assessing our success. For example, U.S. News & World Report has ranked Olin as #2 in undergraduate engineering for two years in a row and a recent report, commissioned by MIT, named Olin the #1 global leader in engineering education. I also particularly like the juxtaposition of Princeton Review’s annual inclusion of Olin on both their “Students Study the Most” and “Happiest Students” lists. Olin is a member of a three-college consortium with Wellesley College and Babson College, which makes for wonderful cross-pollination. Far beyond anything these metrics can capture, Olin is a unique and special community that I feel so grateful to be a part of.

In addition to my role at Olin, I have several other roles:

  • I am a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Medical School, where I teach advanced medical students about attending to patients’ stories.

  • I am Chief Academic Officer of Health Story Collaborative, a non-profit organization aimed at elevating the power of storytelling in the medical ecosystem.

  • I am the Editor of Personality and Social Psychology Review, the premiere outlet for original theoretical papers and conceptual review articles in all areas of personality and social psychology.

  • I have served in various roles for the Association for Research in Personality and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology, including coordinating conference programming, editing newsletters, and serving on awards committees.

  • I am a Clinical Psychologist, licensed in Massachusetts. In the past I have had an active clinical practice, however I am not currently seeing clients.

Personal

I live in Newtonville, Massachusetts, with my family. My husband works in the non-profit sector, focused on higher education access and affordability. Outside of work, we spend a lot of time going to the theater. Our two kids are in elementary school and fill our lives with delicious imaginative play. Our dog, a mutt named Roxie, has entered her senior years and never met a throw-pillow she didn’t want to snuggle.
